Mothers Day is Sunday May 11th. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in North America as an important observance for Mexico; their actual Independence Day is September 16th, but May 5th is the day of a decisive battle enforcing the declaration of independence from Spain.

Saturuday, May 3rd - 2 PM - Kentucky Derby Day
“The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” comes to Alpine Way. Sit back and sip mint juleps or get involved with picking the winning horse.
Monday, May 5th - 12 PM - Cinco de Mayo Chili Cook-Off
We’ll provide the chili and you be the judge. Last year’s winning “Rattlesnake Gulch Chili” and Runner-up, Ronald Reagan’s Favorite Chili” will be competing again with other specialties, both hot and mild. Later in the day, there’ll be margaritas to cool your palate!
Friday, May 9th - Mother’s Day Spa Experience
For the ladies only, we’ll have massages and manicures, soothing relation and sensational skin treatments. The Red Door has nothing on us!

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Jill Coulson from SpecialTea Pots in Bremerton will share with us the history and refinements of the Tea Party, as we dine on scones and jam.
Friday, May 16th - 6:30 PM - Mariners Night at Clearbrook
Join in the pre-game festivities at 6:30 at we get ready to “root-root-root for the home team” game against the San Diego Padres, which begins at 7:00pm.

Our ladies have requested a return visit to this charming restaurant in Port Orchard housed in a Victorian era replica and filled to the flowered wallpapers with beautiful dolls and accessories.
Saturday, May 17th - 1:00 to 2:30 PM - Mother’s Day Lilac Tea
Harpist Arisa Houston will provide the heavenly background music again this year for our sumptuous Ladies’ Tea honoring all the ladies who live at Country Meadows.
Wednesday, May 21st - 1:00 PM - Cinco de Mayo Social
One of our favorite singing groups, The Reflections, (who sound like Patti, Maxine and Laverne) will entertain for our “Grange” social. We’ll enjoy margaritas, chips & salsa as we tap our feet to their lively sound!

Thursday May 15 3:00 PM Tea and Poetry
At Country Meadows, we call him the “Bard of Manchester.” Bill Thompson, husband of Activities Assistant Jackie Thompson, will share some of his delightful poetry with us. In his poems Bill takes us to places we’ve all been, either physically, like a childhood swing or your first car, or emotionally, like growing pains or happy times with family & friends. In the true spirit of sharing, he also encourages others to read or recite their favorites!
